Financial models

A model someone else can open and follow.

Built in Excel from a blank sheet. Every formula traces back to an input you can change yourself, so the model survives the first hard question anyone asks of it.

01What you get

What we build, in Excel.

  • Budgets, forecasts and the case you take to a lender or an investor, with scenarios they can run themselves.
  • Three statement forecasts: profit and loss, balance sheet and cash flow, tied together.
  • Unit economics: what one customer costs to win and what they return.
  • Valuation: discounted cash flow and comparables, with the assumptions on the sheet.
  • Cap tables and exit waterfalls: who gets what at every exit value.
  • Budgets and monthly reporting, so the plan and the actuals sit side by side.
02How it is built

Inputs in one place, calculations in another, outputs you can hand to someone else. No hard-coded numbers buried in a formula.

Every model is laid out so a person who did not build it can follow it: inputs colour coded, each sheet doing one job, and checks that fail loudly when something stops balancing. You get the workbook, not a locked file or a screenshot.

03Runway

How long does your cash last?

Four numbers. It assumes revenue grows every month and burn holds steady, which is the simplest honest version of the question.

5%
0 months of runway Now the month the cash runs out

It runs in your browser and nothing is sent anywhere. Want the full model, with hiring, collections and scenarios? Let's talk.

04Process

2 days, start to finish.

  1. i

    Call

What decision the model has to support, and who will read it.

  2. ii

    Drivers

The handful of inputs the answer actually turns on, agreed first.

  3. iii

    First build

The working model, with checks and a scenario switch.

  4. iv

    Walkthrough

We take you through it live, then two rounds of changes and handover.

05Questions
Excel or Google Sheets?

Excel, because the functions and the speed are better for anything with real depth. It opens in Google Sheets if you need it to, and we will tell you where that breaks.

Can you fix the model I already have?

Sometimes. We will look at it and tell you honestly whether repairing it costs less than rebuilding. With inherited models the answer is often rebuild, and we will say so rather than bill you for archaeology.

Will I be able to update it myself?

That is the point of the layout. Inputs are in one place and marked, and we walk you through the workbook before handover so you know where to type.

Do you do valuations?

Yes, discounted cash flow and comparables, with every assumption visible on the sheet. We will not produce a number without showing what drives it.

What does it cost?

It depends on how many moving parts the business has. Tell us what you need and you will have a quote within a day.

Tell us what the model has to answer.

That one sentence is usually enough for us to quote it.
